Thursday the 4th July, marked the night of the Burnley Business Awards, a night to celebrate the best of Burnley. Hosted by Burnley Borough Council and sponsored by over 17 Businesses, companies and charities, it was a show stopping event.

Held at Crow Wood Hotel, in an outdoor Gazebo, large enough to fit 600 people from various Burnley businesses. Among those 600, proudly sat E&M Property Solutions nominated for The Best Small Business Award. This was E&M’s first time being nominated for this award, and it was both nerve wracking and exciting.

So how do the awards work?

Nominations opened in January and E&M Property Solutions was put forward for Best Small Business Award employing 0-10 people. Every business that was entered for this category (and any other category) then had to then wait to see if their application had been shortlisted. I’m happy to tell you that E&M property Solutions was shortlisted. This in itself felt like a huge achievement as we were told that this category had the majority of entries, and the competition was hot.

Next came the nerve wracking part, giving a presentation in front of a panel of judges, this was an out of comfort zone experience, but one that we are determined to improve on and make it part of our comfort zone. Tina Etherington the owner and Director of E&M Property Solutions, gave the presentation, in front of the judging panel - whom i should add were all very welcoming and lovely, but Tina will be the first to tell you that she felt the pressure. The reassurance was the other short listed businesses had to do the same, so Im sure we weren’t alone in the nerves department.

So imagine capturing everything we do, how it positively impacts our community, how it provides housing to those in need, how we cater for different markets, how we revitalise Burnley one property at a time, how we liaise with other businesses and working professionals creating more jobs in our area, proving that our business makes a difference, whilst considering your future goals and proposals for the business. Then compact all of that information into a 15 minute presentation to be given in front of a judging panel. If you know Tina she can talk your ear off about E&M Property Solutions it truly is her life and passion. She can give you legislations, laws, regulations, and tell you anything you need to know about property and investments. Let’s just say when the presentation was over she had a smile on her face, mainly due to the relief of it being over!

After this it was up to the judges, to deliberate and make their decision. How do you compare a charitable organisation against a pub, an I.T company against an Estate Agency etc. Not an easy job I’m sure, but the wait began.

Fast forward to the Awards night. What a sight it was pulling up to the venue. Photographers, entertainers, drinks and style, it was truly stunning.

It was a busy night for sure, with over 600 guests, the gazebo was a buzz with celebration, just being in that tent, felt like you had already won being amongst Burnley’s Best Businesses. It was a black tie event, so everyone looked their best, and can I take a moment to say what a stunning team we make! As everyone from the E&M office sat at our table, it didn’t matter to us whether we won or not (of course it would have been nice) but we already felt like we had accomplished so much and we were all proud to be part of E&M Property Solutions.

After a welcome speech from our host we were then presented with a delicious 3 course meal, what a treat it was, the drinks were flowing and a fabulous time was had by all.

Then came the main event, the winners were announced. Fortunately for us, The best small business category was first, so we didn’t have long to wait. However we didn’t win! Booo!

Seriously though, a huge congratulations to Miro Products, who took home the trophy!

The night continued with applause and happiness for all the winners from the different categories, and it truly was a night of celebration.

E&M Property Solutions may not have won… this time… but we are so proud of this business. It was an incredible step to be nominated, shortlisted and to be part of this event. Tina sincerely thanked her team for all of their hard work and efforts, each one of them play their part in making E&M a success, to which she is truly greatful. Who knows if we will be back again next year, we certainly hope so, only time will tell!
